Dr. Rolando Silva

Dr. Rolando Silva is a graduate of the The Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico, where he earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 2015, followed by a Master’s of Science Degree in 2017. He first joined the Wrigleyville Veterinary Center team as a veterinary technician in 2021. While he worked as a technician, he diligently completed the requirements to become credentialed as a Veterinarian in the United States. In May of 2024, he finally earned his State of Illinois Veterinary License, and accepted a position as an Associate Veterinarian at Wrigleyville Veterinary Center!

Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Dr. Silva identified his love of animals at an early age. As a child he was passionate about caring for all creatures, even insects and spiders. He would frequently bring home sick or injured strays, from orphaned kittens to pigeons with broken wings, and while he didn’t always have the resources to take them to the vet, he did his best to nurse them back to health. This passion eventually turned into a career for Dr. Silva when he decided to pursue his degree in Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Silva has a special interest in internal medicine cases, particularly endocrine, cardiac, and gastrointestinal diseases, and he enjoys the challenge of diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions. He has a soft spot for puppies and senior canine patients, and is a firm believer that prevention is the best course of action when it comes to ensuring our pets are healthy. As a bilingual Veterinarian, he is always eager to help care for animals whose owners’ first language is his native Spanish.

Outside of work, Dr. Silva enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking and camping. He is passionate about his physical fitness, but also enjoys baking, photography, and going to the movies. In his free time, he can often be found spending time with his two pets, a lab/beagle mix named Ximena, and a brown domestic shorthair cat named Carlota.
